Career planning for many students in Albania has taken place within the family setting, in which parents played an active and important role in counseling, mentoring and guiding the student in their career path. Now days a young counseled students by adequate programs is more likely to follow a successful career path. It is important that youth be counseled and mentored properly, by well trained staff as well as alumni, who can provide not only a well planned career path, but also guide them through the process and become a bridge to the real job world. Such planning and mentoring is likely to produce in the long run world class citizens, successful entrepreneurs and future leaders.

In Albania the unemployment rate for people between 20-35 yrs of age, has been considerably high. Turning our unemployed young people into innovators, entrepreneurs and productive members of our economies, will help in the country’s development and save millions in the long run – the cost of disengaged youth. But curbing youth unemployment will require different thinking.

Goals to achieve:
 Learn by Doing Curricula – Digital and problem-solving skills, along with teamwork experience, are key requirements that, if appropriately incorporated into school curricula, will complement the skill sets of unemployed workers to match those needed for the jobs of today and tomorrow.
 Skills Development Combo – To make an impact on the future, we must focus on combining different ways of thinking, which requires the capacity to think critically, solve problems, collaborate and communicate effectively.
 Lifelong Security – Many young people show the aptitude and desire to build their own businesses, which would not only make them productive members of the economy, but also a source of further employment for others. As a result, young people need appropriate training, funding, and mentoring that needs to start on campus. They also need a policy environment that is conducive to change.
